Moscow TMA Future Airspace Concept Model
Boeing / Jeppesen / Aeroflot / Vnukovo Airport
Cignus provided modeling and analytical support to Boeing/Jeppesen in developing a detailed airspace model for the Moscow Terminal Management Area (TMA) and its three primary airports: Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Domodedovo. The primary goal was to develop a conceptual airspace architecture consisting of arrival (STAR) and departure (SID) procedures.
The proposed design was based on a modified 4-corner post structure with RNAV routes designed with built-in altitude and speed restrictions. Cignus modeled the airspace using TAAM and assessed impacts using capacity (airport and sector throughput), efficiency (procedure distances, flown time, aircraft holding), and safety (minimum separation violation) metrics.
Outcomes
- Conceptual airspace architecture for Moscow TMA with three airports
- Modified 4-corner post RNAV structure with altitude/speed restrictions
- TAAM simulation of capacity, efficiency, and safety metrics
- Arrival and departure procedure designs for Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo
