Unmanned Systems

Unmanned systems represent a growing and integral component of the airspace system. Known under such aliases including drones, UASs, and remotely piloted vehicles (RPAs), they create challenges across all aspects of ATM: governance, policy, certification, air traffic control, and system integration.

Cignus has supported the FAA on a number of NextGen projects that support the integration of UASs into the National Airspace System (NAS). This includes the development of operational concepts for UAS operations at both low altitudes as well as Class A airspace using trajectory-based operations (TBO) concepts and information sharing paradigms.

We provide operational knowledge combined with systems engineering expertise to support UAS research projects and to develop applications that support commercial and other UAS operations around the globe.
